The Khater Foundation supported the renovation of the EL-Ebrachy gastrointestinal endoscopy unit at Al-Kasr Al-ِAiny Hospitals (Cairo University), enhancing access to diagnostic and advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures, encompassing ultrasonography and innovative third-space techniques, for numerous national and regional patients without any financial burden.
This collaborative undertaking, notably supported by Professor Dr. Mohamed Samy Abdel Sadek (President of Cairo University) and Professor Dr. Fahd Salah Khater (Chairman of the Khater Foundation), is projected to double the unit's operational capacity from its present volume of 3,000 annual cases. The unit's highly proficient medical team includes pioneers who have benefited from advanced training and are actively disseminating their expertise throughout Egypt and the broader Arab region. This initiative, under the guidance and leadership of Professor Dr. Hossam Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Professor Dr. Mazen Naga, Honorary Director of the Unit, constitutes a crucial investment in the advancement of healthcare infrastructure and the welfare of patients. The inauguration took place in mid-March 2025 and was attended by many faculty members from Cairo University, heads of departments, directors from Al-Kasr Al-Ainy Hospitals administration, the Khater Foundation for Community Development, and some community organizations.
